How to Add a Charge to an Existing Bail Bond

When new charges drop on top of an existing case, you may not need a second bond. Here's how to consolidate.

When prosecutors file additional charges after a bond is already posted, the original bond may cover the new charges — or a 'rider' (added bond) may be required.

    Same-case enhancement

If the new charge is filed in the same case number, the original bond typically holds — no new bond needed unless bail is increased.

    New case filing

A new case number means a new bond. We can write a rider with no new application fee and discount the second premium for the same client.

    Increased bail

If the court raises bail, the existing bondsman can usually write the increase as an addendum. Co-signer must approve in writing.

    Call your existing bondsman first

Always call the bondsman who wrote the original bond before paying a second premium. (909) 406-6909.
