Co-signers (indemnitors) have the right to cancel the bond and surrender the defendant back to custody. It's called 'off-bond.'
When to consider it
If the defendant is using drugs, threatening you, planning to flee, or otherwise putting the bond at risk.
How it works
Notify the bondsman in writing. The bondsman will surrender the defendant to custody, and your liability ends from that point forward.
The premium isn't refunded
The 10% you paid for posting the bond is not returned. But your future liability is terminated.
