Cash bail vs bail bond premium — only one is refundable.
Point 1
Cash bail (full amount paid to court): refundable when the case ends, minus a small administrative fee. Takes 60–90 days to process.
Point 2
Bail bond premium (10% paid to a bondsman): NON-refundable. The premium is the bondsman's fee for posting the surety bond, regardless of case outcome.
Point 3
Collateral pledged to the bondsman (property, vehicles) is released back to the indemnitor once the bond is exonerated.
Point 4
If a case is dismissed at arraignment, the bond is exonerated immediately and collateral is returned — but the 10% premium stays with the bondsman.
