How Much Is Bail for a DUI in California? County-by-County

DUI bail amounts vary by county and prior convictions. Here's the actual schedule, plus how to get out fast.

DUI is California's most common bookable offense. Bail amounts follow the county bail schedule and scale with priors, injuries, and BAC.

    First-offense misdemeanor DUI (VC 23152)

Los Angeles: $5,000. Orange: $2,500. San Bernardino: $2,500. Riverside: $5,000. San Diego: $2,500. Most arrestees are released on citation (cite-out) without needing a bond.

    Second offense within 10 years

$10,000–$15,000 across SoCal counties. Cite-out is rare — a bond is usually required.

    DUI with injury (VC 23153)

Felony. Bail $50,000–$100,000 depending on injury severity. Premium on a $50K bond is $5,000.

DUI with prior felony or 3+ priors

$100,000+ and often a no-bail hold pending arraignment.

Vehicular manslaughter w/ intoxication (PC 191.5)

$100,000–$1,000,000. Almost always requires a hearing to set bail.

    How to lower the bail

An attorney-of-record drops the bond premium from 10% to 8%. A bail-reduction motion at arraignment can cut the amount in half.
